Thanks, Eric. I printed it in 59 x 78 cm (with my company's plotter, but pssst, don't tell anyone  Cool ) and stuck it to a door. Since you're the expert I have a question about the map: In the drawings of the June/December solstice, the white area represents the sunlight. It has some kind of oval shape, but it's definitely not a circle. We see the sun as a circle from the earth. If the sun was a ball or a circle, the projection of its light would be a circle. Something doesn't seem to fit here.

How was the white shape (sunlight projection) measured? I could only think of a gigantic experiment where thousands of people in different parts of the world note the time when the sun is up/down on a specific day, and someone would have to review all the data so he/she can build a map from all those coordinates. In today's world this doesn't seem too complicated, but back in 1892, when the new standard map was created, without internet and cell phones?
